Fairlight Attic Conversion

Residential

Project Description

With the astronomical cost of property in Sydney people are looking for creative ways of utilising the space they already have.

This client had shared attic space at the top of a unit block, however the neighbour was not interested in doing a double conversion.

We had our engineer design a steel structure to support the ridge beam throughout the attic space which allowed us to remove the existing collar ties in the roof. This also required fitting new hanging beams above the brick walls and re-attaching the existing ceiling joists. The new floor joists were 150 x 45 lvl’s with yellow tongue flooring.

The selection and installation of the skylights was challenging due to the small dimensions, however the end result really enlightens the room without compromising on space.
