RANDWICK
HOME RENOVATION
PROJECT: Randwick - Eastern Suburbs, Sydney
DESCRIPTION: Full 2nd storey addition, including parents retreat, new living & dining areas, kitchen, new floors, front facade, stairs, 2 new bathrooms and storage
ARCHITECT: Temara Lane
TEAMS INVOLVED: Braeside Building, Braeside Joinery
Project Description
Our Randwick project was an architecturally designed 2 story addition with a full renovation to the existing property.
Originally a 50s-built eastern suburbs cottage, the challenge was to keep the heritage elements of the original building whilst extending with an ultramodern addition, ultimately, keeping a seamless connection between old and new.
The bold, monochrome, cladded facade cuts a dramatic line against the blue skies very much in tune with contemporary architectural trends. A metallic grey finish on acrylic render can be seen across the grooved FC board on the build. The roofing was a Colourbond matte range with stand and seam system. Heka hood window boxes are used as a rigid awning in keeping with the linear aesthetic of the home.
Floor to ceiling glass doors and windows bridge the threshold between interior and exterior allowing natural light to flood into the living and kitchen space. Engineered Blackbutt timber flooring is used throughout the build and custom joinery elements were completed by Braeside Joinery. Stone Grey polyurethane paint is used in contrast with a bright white in the cabinetry to mimic the exterior cladding and evoke a sense of togetherness in the house with timber veneer feature shelves used to add a more natural feel to the interior spaces.

Owners
Ross and his team did a knock-down/rebuild of the back of our house, creating a large open plan living area opening out to the garden, and adding a first floor master bedroom/ensuite.They also renovated the front part of our house.
We absolutely love our new home - they couldn't have done a better job!
Dealing with Ross, we were always impressed with his professionalism and meticulous attention to detail.
Ross worked closely together with our architect Temara Lane to come up with fantastic solutions for any special ideas/requests we had, and deal with any challenges the build would throw at them, and he worked tirelessly and reliably to get the project finished on time. Ross is both an experienced builder and a joinery maker, so he also provided amazing custom-built furniture to fit out the interior.
We'd highly recommend Ross and his company Braeside Building to anyone looking for a high-end construction/renovation and joinery projects.
